That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, And from his mother and his father, And from his wife and his children.
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. [80:34-37]

Capital Project

Anjuman-e-Ja’fariyya Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Community of Watford has its foundation in the Sadaat families who settled in Watford from Pakistan in the late 1960s & early 1970’s. Due to further expansion of the community the Jamaat was formally established in 1982 and registered as a charity in the UK in 1984. After various temporary premises al-Zahra Centre was purchased in 1997. The community has over time grown further from a several households to over 120 households accounting for over 400 men, women and children.

At present, the two halls for the ladies and gents allow the Jamaat to hold key religious and social events, regular majalis programmes, daily prayers and madressa without any adequate provision of kitchen, ghusl khana and washing facilities. Only one event can take place at any one time, some programmes such as madressa are cancelled to give priority to more prominent religious programmes. The community feels that the current condition of the premises is a hindrance to its continued development and education.

The Centre on completion of the proposed works will give the community a facility that can meet the religious, social and educational needs of the community for the next 20-30 years. The proposed Centre will be financially sustainable with in-built income streams for the upkeep of the Centre for years to come. This will in turn ensure that the investment made will provide funding to meet the religious, social and educational needs for the advancement of the Community, particularly of young children and youth, for the generations to come.The proposed requirements are;

  1. Provision of a fully equipped kitchen;
  2. Masjid and Imambargah;
  3. Fully equipped Crèche and Madressa;
  4. Construction of Ghusl khana & toilets;
  5. Renovation of office and flats.
